In Summer of 2021, Roxanne G., a member of New Church Challenge approached the President and the Board of Directors about obtaining some funding for a project she wanted to start with her son, Caleb. Caleb has multiple medical issues and developmental delays. Caleb’s Cafe is a small coffee shop where Caleb and his mother provide coffee and treats to members of the Church Society and School. Roxanne and Caleb hope to train and employ other young people with special needs to work in the cafe.
New Church Challenge was very happy to offer financial assistance for this project from the Carlson Bequest, which was given to the General Church to support the vocational training of a young person with disabilities, and which is now administered by New Church Challenge
