New Church Challenge is an organization whose purpose is to provide support to people in the New Church with disabilities and their families.
To help provide support, a percentage of the annual income of New Church Challenge plus contributions specifically made to this fund, are set aside every year for family grants for New Church families living in North America. What amount is not used in one year is carried over to the next year.
When funds are available, New Church Challenge will consider requests from families needing financial assistance for programs, services or equipment for a person in their care who has a physical or mental disability. Grants will be based on need and are to be for limited services or programs, not long-term care. Grants are for future or ongoing needs and are not made to reimburse families for past services they have received.
The family is expected to seek out what is available from sources of public or private funding (such as insurance or supported programs) before making a request. Also, families are expected to contribute a minimum of 5% of the total cost toward the requested program.
A family grant application requires two supporting reference letters, one from a pastor or minister in the General Church of the New Jerusalem.
At the end of the program or service, the committee expects a brief report on the value and benefits that have been realized. This will help us determine whether or not to consider other programs of this nature in the future. We are always happy to hear what progress has been made.
All communications and applications to the Family Grants Fund are kept strictly confidential, and the personal details are not shared even to other board members. This is to protect the privacy of individuals and their families.
